Shotcrete and Concrete Pumping
With "wet-process shotcrete" a low-slump concrete mix is pumped with a concrete pump to the end of the pipeline where a special "shotcrete nozzle" is attached. That shotcrete nozzle introduces compressed air to the concrete. This compressed air typically comes from a 150-185cfm air compressor. The addition of the compressed air adds velocity to the concrete so it sprays out of the nozzle. This velocity, combined with the low slump of the shotcrete mix, allows the concrete to be sprayed on slopes, vertical walls, and overhead.
Gunite , also known as "dry process shotcrete" , uses a different process than the concrete pump. Gunite machines use air pressure to convey dry material from the gunite machine through the hose to the nozzle where water is then added.
Both processes are a suitable means of spraying concrete. Shotcrete and Gunite are a process, not a product which is confusing to most people. The end result of either process is concrete. Shotcrete and Gunite methods both usually produce a concrete product that is superior to poured concrete. Cement content is much higher than typical readymix and the force from the impact of spraying consolidates the concrete which is a vital element of any concrete structure.
We offer shotcrete services for the following applications:
- Swimming Pools
- We offer shotcrete pool shell construction including excavation and steel work to other pool companies in the area.
- RockScapes
- Shotcrete can be cut and textured to resemble natural rock structures quite easily.
- Artificial Rocks
- Artificial rock structures for zoos and other facilities
- Retaining Walls
- Typically shotcrete can be used to create retainer walls that ar far superior to conventional block or poured in place concrete walls.
- Slope Stabilization
- Shotcrete is a fantastic way to maintain eroding slope conditions around lakes, ponds and any other extreme grade.
- Concrete Pumping
- We offer small line concrete pumping for various applications.
We have our own mixing rig and can batch concrete on site. This is a great alternative for jobs that have poor access or where a concrete truck cannot get close enough to the work.
